8/31/17 Finally! The Goat Farm

We finally made it to the goat farm today.  It was really wonderful.  The farm has been in the same family for four generations.  We met the owner and his son and several of the grandchildren.  So much fun! Got to sample some of the cheeses they produce.

THE GOATS:

The goats are very well cared for and valued.  They are also very friendly
and insisted on being petted
and fussed over.

No babies until November but plenty on the way!

Believe it or not - these are chickens.  They are called French Silk and are
treasured for their soft, fluffy feathers.  The owner told us they are
very expensive (about $55) and are kept as a kind of
status symbol.  They are gorgeous!

Regular old plain chickens:

I think these are "eating sheep" so tried not to get attached.

These are the three types of goat cheese produced in the area.  Add
to that, what is supposed to be excellent yogurt.  Not a fan!

This is one of the owner's granddaughters feeding a
fawn they adopted who lost it's mother.  It is one month old and very sweet!
It seems to like being with the fancy chickens.
